My goal is to help people better understand the world around them. I believe that quality education is one of the most critical issues facing us today. Only by understanding each other and the laws of nature will we be able to make a sustainable world for ourselves and for future generations to live in. Therefore, I have decided that it is my mission to create ways for people to more easily gain access to information and to help them transform that information into knowledge and wisdom.
We are continually traveling forward in time. We can remember the past and we can act in the present but we can only guess about the future. But, we do not need to leave what happens to us in the future entirely up to chance. We can learn from our past and examine our present situation to make informed decisions about the future. This to most people is commonly known as planning. But, the process of planning can be done to differing degrees. Futures Studies takes the process of planning to a higher degree by using various methods to build scenarios of possible futures. By building multiple scenarios we are better able to anticipate the changes that will occur in the future than if we simply follow our single best guess. Only through extensive research and thoughtful consideration will we be able to arrive at a set of plausible scenarios. Therefore, access to information and the ability to correctly process information are key elements of Futures Studies.
By applying principles of Information Design to the area of Futures Studies I believe that I can help companies, governments, and individuals better understand their world and make better decisions. I actually believe that most people are essentially good and want to do the right thing. I believe that I can help people do the right thing by giving them relevant and understandable information about current circumstances and the consequences of action or inaction. I hope that I will be able to help you someday achieve success in your future endeavors.
